Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), a prestigious Navratna company under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released its official Advertisement No. MDL-ATS/01/2025 for the selection of 523 Trade Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961.  Available Trades and Training Duration

The trades are divided into three groups based on educational qualifications:

Group A (10th Pass) – 2 Years Training

•     Draftsman (Mech.)
•     Electrician
•     Fitter
•     Pipe Fitter
•     Structural Fitter

Group B (ITI Passed) – 1 Year Training

•     Fitter Structural (Ex-ITI Fitter)
•     Draftsman (Mech.)
•     Electrician
•     ICTSM
•     Electronic Mechanic/
•     RAC
•     Pipe Fitter
•     Welder
•     COPA
•     Carpenter

Group C (8th Pass) – 1 to 2 Years Training

•     Rigger
•     Welder (Gas & Electric)

Age Limit (as on 01-10-2025)

•     Group A: 15 to 19 years
•     Group B: 16 to 21 years
•     Group C: 14 to 18 years

Age relaxation applies as per government norms:

•     SC/ST: 5 years
•     OBC: 3 years
•     Divyang: 10 years

Educational Qualifications

• Group A: Passed SSLC with Science and Maths; minimum 50% marks for UR/OBC/EWS and pass for SC/ST.
• Group B: Passed ITI in relevant trade with minimum 50% marks for UR/OBC/EWS and pass for SC/ST.
• Group C: Passed 8th standard with minimum 50% marks for UR/OBC/EWS and pass for SC/ST.

Application Fee

•     ₹100/- + bank charges for UR/OBC/EWS
•     No fee for SC/ST/Divyang (must upload valid certificate)

Selection Process

The selection will be carried out in three stages:

•     Computer-Based Test (CBT) – 100 marks, MCQ format.
•     Document Verification & Trade Allotment – Based on CBT score.
•     Medical Examination – As per Apprenticeship Rules.

CBT Exam Syllabus Includes:

•     General Knowledge
•     English
•     Mathematics
•     Science / Trade Theory (depending on group)

Exam centres include Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Latur, Kolhapur, Nashik

Reservation Details

•     SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Divyang categories – as per GoI norms
•     30% reservation for women
•     Horizontal reservation for Divyang candidates
•     Separate provisions for children of Armed Forces Personnel

Important Instructions

•     ITI-qualified candidates cannot apply for Group A & C.
•     One application is valid for one group only.
•     Candidates appearing in final exams must pass before 01-10-2025.
•     Use of scribe is allowed under conditions for eligible candidates.
